This bass is my work horse. The pickup preamp combo on this bass is amazing. Active or passive, humbucker or single coil, every configuration is usable and the preamp tastefully offers usable bass and treble boost and cut. The tone shaping control works in both active and passive mode allowing you to open up your tone in any configuration and tailor your tone to your room or rig with the bass/treble controls. The passive single coil tone has a great vintage jazz sound and the active single coil cops a modern active jazz bass perfectly. The humbucker tones are more subdued, smooth, and modern sounding (as expected). The carving on this instrument is stunning and the design is elegant. This one's a keeper.
